Believe it or not, Thanksgiving is right around the corner! Today on Studio 5, we gave 3 fun ideas for helping your family to express their gratitude in a fun way. Enjoy!
Give Thanks Banner-
Kits for this project will be available Monday, November 16th for $16. Call to reserve yours today.
With the popularity of banners right now, we had to create one devoted to gratitude. The idea here is that family and friends write their thougths of thanks on die cut leaves and then stuff the leaves in the bags. A fun idea would be to challenge your kids to fill the bags before Thanksgiving day.
This banner is made with flat paper bags (available at the stores for $0.20 each). We then put a 5X7 square of paper and a letter on top of each bag. And of course, inked it up like crazy! We glued strips of paper to the tops of the bags (to ad security) and punched holes. The bags are tied together with twine. Top it off with cute die-cuts, buttons, flowers, etc.
We used Crate Paper's Seasons line. The letters for this project were cut using the Silhouette Digital Cutter (now in stock).
Here is an oldy but a goodie with a modern twist! We have two versions of the classic Gratitude Jar. Both versions can be made with any cute jar you have laying around. Dress your jar up with a cute tag and ribbons to bring in the fall spirit.
Version 1: The empty Jar
Start with an empty jar. Each night during dinner or before bed, have your children name things they are grateful for. With each idea they name, they get to put something in the jar (we used beans, but you could use anything..macaroni, cotton balls, pennies). Challenge your kids to fill the jar before Thanksgiving day.
Version 2: The full Jar
As you eat these candies sweet,
Count your blessings with each treat.
Name each one with eyes raised high,
Then with joy your heart will fly.
Make this poem into a cute tag or topper and place it on a jar or package of candy. As your guests enjoy their treats, they will reflect on all of the blessings in their lives. This idea makes a great place card for the Thanksgiving dinner table.
Thankful Heart Artist Printer's Tray
We love these new Printer's Trays from 7 Gypsies. We just had to make one up for this theme. The idea behind this decor piece is that each family member has a pocket with their name on it. Friends and family can write notes of love and thanks on tags and leave them for family members to find. This is a piece that could be kept up all year to encourage random acts of kindness in your family.
Things you will need to make this project:
7 Gypsies Artist Printer's Tray
Chipboard (Cut to 2X3) for pockets
Patterned Paper (we used 7 Gypsies new Venice collection)
Sticker Letters or Die Cut letters for names
Manilla tags in a variety of sizes
Lots of trinkets, bobbles, ribbon- for creating an ecclectic, vintage look.
Ink
To Make:
Glue chipboard in desired spots to front of Tray to create pocket. Decorate pockets with names. Fill each tray spot with photos, paper, and trinkets.
Ink all elements as well as tags. Tie ribbons on tags and leave for family to write on.
Use your creativity to make this project unique to your family's style.
These are all great ideas!!! Thanks for all the inspiration!
